Decided to go for the M3D Pro KickStarter…

I’ve been talking about putting together a RepRap for years now to  get rolling on playing with 3D printing.

The M3D Pro  seems like a good device for around $500.00 to get some printing done and perhaps bootstrap my RepRap experimentation.

My friend Jim Wickey pointed me in the direction of the M3D folks as a possible source of a small and inexpensive printer for bootstrapping purposes. I registered there and they just sent me a kickstarter email for the pro device.

A larger build volume and heated bed make this a more useful device for me. I prefer ABS over PLA (and the heated bed makes a difference here) and I’d like something that is useful for more than just bootstrapping experimental devices.

Should be coming in at the beginning of the year. Once I have it up and running we can see how things go. Hoping to get a RepRap together soon thereafter and perhaps look at playing with a low wattage laser cutter following on.
