Christmas Break Begins…

KMC leaves holiday days for an XMas break every year and I’m into that now.

Thinking about the week off below…

Had a nasty bit of a flu-like bug last week and still feeling a bit under the weather from it. Lorna seems to have picked it up and is working her way through.

Lots that I’d like to get done over this off week…

I’ve scanned most of the family photos that my sister loaned me. I still have a couple of small albums (one of old post cards) and some loose photos to do. Slowed down after the Disney trip with Lys and Jonathan as I pulled some of my scanner infrastructure apart as I was getting ready to go and parts of it haven’t been put back together yet.

Picked up a bunch of technical books from Manning and Packt on their pre-christmas sales (packt at $5 per ebook was particularly scary 🙂 ). Lots of reading to do. Some of this is aimed at upcoming tools work at KMC as there are some UI tools choices to be made and I expect to do some prototyping this coming week.

We saw the new Jumanji movie today. We liked it a lot. I think I like it better than the original. This one seemed to have more ‘heart’ and a great sense of humor. Light material but fun. Going to try to re-watch Big Hero 6 with Lorna tomorrow.

I think that I’m going to start trying to write a blog entry every day, even if only a short one…most days I’ll probably be either on the personal side or the career side not both though.

Things have been a bit busy since before Alyssa came home. Probably not going to quiet down after the first of the year either. I expect that the tools work at KMC will be challenging to get done on time and with all desired functionality. We’ve got the spring vacation coming up that was on the books before we found that we could squeeze in our wonderful bonus vacation with Lys and Jonathan. I’ve also got quite a lot of technology I want to come up to speed on.

Still haven’t managed to meet Jim Wickey in the real world. Still hoping to make that happen. He seems like a pretty cool person and it would be great if there were things we could create together.

At this point I’m thinking that board games stuff is likely to stay in the background. I don’t have anyone currently to play with and my schedule is likely going to be very full for the near term future.
