I did finally give up on fixing the issues with my Ubuntu<\/a> 17.04 install and nuked it to install 17.10.<\/p>\n

I’m still not all that thrilled with the remoting capabilities. Neither RDP nor VNC seem particularly robust. I can SSH but then I have to do everything through a console window…workable but less than ideal.<\/p>\n

I’m not sure what happened with the 17.04 install. I’m guessing that I didn’t update it fast enough and the repos for that version were taken down. I’ll try to keep 17.10 up to date on a more regular basis but I’m now posturing myself to reinstall my Linux several times a year if necessary…not nearly as useful as a reliable install would have been, but I can work with this.<\/p>\n

I still need to get node, mongodb and apache on there (and probably a MariaDB for full SQL) to make this useful as a dev target.<\/p>\n

I may also install a VM on my main windows machine for convenience but at the moment I need to free some disk space before this is practical.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
