I did finally give up on fixing the issues with my Ubuntu 17.04 install and nuked it to install 17.10.

I’m still not all that thrilled with the remoting capabilities. Neither RDP nor VNC seem particularly robust. I can SSH but then I have to do everything through a console window…workable but less than ideal.

I’m not sure what happened with the 17.04 install. I’m guessing that I didn’t update it fast enough and the repos for that version were taken down. I’ll try to keep 17.10 up to date on a more regular basis but I’m now posturing myself to reinstall my Linux several times a year if necessary…not nearly as useful as a reliable install would have been, but I can work with this.

I still need to get node, mongodb and apache on there (and probably a MariaDB for full SQL) to make this useful as a dev target.

I may also install a VM on my main windows machine for convenience but at the moment I need to free some disk space before this is practical.
